This set of work was started during Jiro Kamata’s workshop at Chile and conclude at my studio in São Paulo.
Knowing that we were going to work about the theme “jewelry as a memory system” and that I would be far from home, I started my process before traveling, by revisiting boxes full of photos and ordinary objects. A pleasure moment to rediscover treasures that only have value to me. Lines, thimble, buttons, letters, photos...
The work I made is the result of that travel to my own intimacy. My way to reconnect with the memory of a special person, but also a way to look again to my own history. My way to retell the story of my family and to rediscover how come I decided to be a jeweler. However, even starting from a personal memory I think that the set of work carries its own story. They are made by the memory of the gestures that build. By presenting different moments of the process, I intend to create a narrative.
The memory is not clean, is not regular, has a lot of sides and perspectives, has marks of time, smell, emotion.
wax, copper, paper, tea, shoyu
